The Anacortes – San Juan Ferry Run

ANACORTES, WA

I was at Anchor Cove Marina today and I noticed a Washington State Ferry being escorted by a tug to the Anacortes Ferry Dock.   I believe it was the Sealth which is a 90 car ferry that The Washington State Deaprtment of Transportation announced will begin service on the Anacortes – San Juan Islands route this Sunday, Oct. 26.  The Sealth has been in dry dock for 9 weeks for scheduled maintenance.

The Sealth has a smaller capacity than the 144-car Elwha which was being used on the Anacortes – San Juan Islands run.  The Elwha will return to the Seattle – Bremerton run.  The 87-car Evergreen State is an inter-island ferry and provides service between The San Juan Islands.

To view the current ferry schedule click here.  Since the Sealth is a smaller vessel, wait times might be longer.   You can check out the ferry line by viewing the Ferry Cam.  Those of you check the ferry cam often and live in Seattle will notice that Anacortes gets 1/3 less rain than Seattle!
